I’m in a slump, and it’s a doozy this time. I loathe when I become disillusioned with humanity but I refuse to let it take me down. We are all so vulnerable to each other, no matter how thick skinned we pretend to be and when somebody messes with our energy it can turn into a downward spiral, if we let it. But I’m not going to let it. In fact, I’m busting through it and becoming empowered by it.
I am sorry to be so evasive but I see no reason to drag this person’s name through the mud. He is doing enough damage on his own. The fact is, and I know this sounds pathetic, but I feel sorry for him.
Anyway, in these past few weeks I have been driving full force into a lot of walls and it has slowly dawned on me to just STOP allowing this bad energy to extinguish my inner light. I know, I know don’t talk about the light…
This morning I went to Facebook and the first quote I read was from the Dalai Llama, “The more you think about your own self, the more self-centered you are, the more trouble even small problems can create in your mind. The stronger your sense of ‘I’, the narrower the scope of your thinking becomes; then even small obstacles become unbearable. On the other hand, if you concern yourself mainly with others, the broader your thinking becomes, and life’s inevitable difficulties disturb you less.”
The next quote I read was posted on Deepak Chopra’s page, “#EnlightenedLiving: We come spinning out of nothingness scattering stars like dust -Rumi.”
Needing more explanation for the bad energy I have been feeling, I typed “Retrograde” into Google. I don’t study Astrology but I don’t take it lightly either. Whenever things seem imbalanced in my life I quickly check into the Astrology report, like I would the weather, and there is always an explanation.
Today, in Monthly Horoscope, it read, “Mars will be retrograde in February 2010 as well (December 20th, 2010 – March 10th, 2010) and it could disturb the initiative, dynamism and combativeness (Ya think?).
Actions could be stopped or have a bumpy evolution, and some projects could undergo changes. There’ll be some risk of tension, conflicts or irrational outbursts, accidents, aggressiveness, violence. In the happy cases, over stimulation and stress. Mars’ retrogradation can also bring back to attention or insist upon past actions, interests or passions. This is particularly relevant to Leo, Aries and Scorpio, but not only.”
Here’s what they said on Wall Street Weather, “Mercury, the planetary energy relating to communication and movement, will be retrograde from January 11 to February 1, 2009. Mercury will not really move backwards, but appear to from Earth’s vantage point. Mercury retrogrades occur for three weeks three to four times a year. Mercury retrograde is not considered a favorable time to start something new, but serves as an opportunity to review situations we’ve overlooked or might not have paid enough attention to. When Mercury is retrograde, it’s time to put the RE prefix before everything you do: reconfirm, rethink, renegotiate, repair, revise, redo, reconnect, reinvent, retry, etc. ”
And then I found AstroStar.com on Google. I admit, a lot of what the professional psychic and Astrologer, Janet Moon, said made my eyes cross and so I skipped over the planetary movements and focused on the message, “Mercury is the ruler of transportation and communication. He is the messenger God in mythology. Mercury also rules our minds and logic, and he governs communication processes on the Internet.
When a planet is actually in it’s backward motion, its affects are usually a bit more subdued, but not normally bad. It usually pulls up past issues for us to deal with. With Mercury being the messenger, we often get calls from old friends, and passed-over loved ones will also come a’knocking. Situations often urge us to reevaluate our goals and our values when Mercury is in retrograde. Also, if we have been pushing our luck in the past, Mercury may make us pay up.”
As we move into the bitter cold, powdery days of February I am listening to all the messages I am receiving and I’m reevaluating once again. I’m bored with worrying about how I’m perceived and I’m ready to, as the Dalai Lamai suggests, concern myself mainly with others and continue down my road of discovering the Roaring Fork Treasures and writing about all of the incredible people in our valley.
For the month of February I will be focusing on the healers in our valley, from Spiritual Healers to Active Release Therapists to Life coaches, and as I publish the stories I welcome your input on who or what measures you use to cure your aches and pains, both physically and mentally.
So, let’s have at it. Let’s talk about what makes us feel good and opens us up to loving instead of hating and maybe, just maybe, we can help to cure those who really need it, but just don’t know they need it.
The discussion will be going on both here and on Facebook and probably over at all of the other social media websites I’m involved with, so stay in the loop and let’s get this party started.
Hi Jillian! This is an antsy time for sure. May I recommend my personal astrologist? Sandy Rodeck – at Cosmicclockastrology.com She is fabulous!
I love the quotes you put in this blog – yes just who IS this “me”? I think we get very preoccupied with ourselves and our “doing” all this stuff, you know, busy, busy, busy! Time for a bit of quiet, meditation, deep breathing etc. We have all our own answers within – just get there eh?
hugs

Hi Jillian
I keep this note posted on our bathroom mirror, where I can see it each morning. I call it Taking Care of Myself. It helps keep my anti-asshole shield intact!

2. Get a good night’s sleep
3. Exercise
4. Get outside
5. Eat healthy, starting with breakfast
6. Take supplements
7. See friends
8. Do something for someone else
9. Get creative: make art, food, anything
10. Write my morning pages
Best,

Great blog!

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about Lara! If only we all could be aware that we need an anti-asshole shield!!
Thank you SuZen. I’ll follow anybody you recommend.
Looking forward to seeing you here at The Aspen Club this month Jillian in your “feel good” quest! Good luck on your journey!
The energy in this new paradigm is forcing us to look at what no longer serves us. It is bringing to the surface all that we’ve buried or put away. We can do it the hard way, feel crappy, negative, mean, etc., or we can choose a Lighter path. It is time to gracefully allow any negativity to emerge, look at it, clear it out and choose a more positive path. The choice is ours. Our inner selves are yearning to be free of the collective garbage! Just let it go. And the answers, truly, lie deep within each and every one of us. By connecting within, through meditation, guided visualization, working with what I call “Divine Core Center”, we can easily and gracefully release the old, the past, the negative and create a more joyful, centered, peaceful place for ourselves and our families.
Call me and we’ll get you back on track! I promise!
Michelle
Wear black Carharts and a pink carnation…you wild and silly girl.
You are a wonder of our world…
Wanted to share my touchstone with you:
Things falling apart is kind of testing and also kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all this to happen: room for grief, room for relief, for misery, for joy.
-Pema Chodron
You are a shining star, Jillian!
Lisa
Would it surprise you that once upon a time, I would not get dressed for work until an Astrologer on this rock station I listen to (WBCN) would tell you what color to wear that day for good luck!
It’s all a bunch of Horse Feathers (and since when does a horse have feathers) Everything is what you believe and how you treat people and what you do for the world and your children and friends and family and yourself. Your quote is true…if you are consumed with yourself (as in self centered) you become icky (can’t think of a better word) and boring and ugly inside and out.
Jillian, this person you are referring to is insignificant and if anyone listens to him, than they are like him. His problem is he can’t get out of his own way. He should work with you, not against you.
You have tried everything to friend him. You were funny, charming, sweet, FORGIVING. Clearly he has issues.
WHAT COMES AROUND, GOES AROUND.
He will sink himself.
You remain you, positive, polite and a lady.
My good friend just died. I watched her in three weeks, go from healthy to death. I held her hand when she screamed in pain. I rubbed her forehead when she was comatose from pain. I kissed her cheek when she was dying in front of me. I kissed her hand when she passed away in front of us. I prayed with her family and friends….
None of this trivial stuff is worth your energy. You have happiness, love, health
Love you
M
Melanie, you are always so right on. I can’t expend any more energy on this or give it any more airtime. All that really matters is what role you play in this world and if it is a loving, giving, nurturing role and comes from a place a peace, you will be rewarded and fulfilled! Right?
Beautifully said Lisa and such a positive way to look at it all. Thank you!
Hey Deeds, I am wild and silly aren’t I? Somebody give me some carharts!
