Doing Mardi Gras Right in Snowmass

Doing Mardi Gras Right in Snowmass

Doing Mardi Gras Right in Snowmass

We don’t know about you but we are guessing that you are like us in needing … wanting positive bonding with others, and what better way to share the love you feel than to spend the day in Snowmass tomorrow and join in on all of the Mardi Gras festivities?

Mardi Gras is giving us a reason to celebrate love and life and we have scheduled your day for you so that you can do it right!

Let’s just picture how your day could go tomorrow if you hang that “Closed For Powder … and Mardi Gras” sign on your internet screen.

How To Do Mardi Gras

Eyes pop open when you realize that your hopes have been confirmed and it’s a powder day.

There will be no slow shuffle out of bed in your cozy flannels – you slept in your Ninja Suit that you got from Radio Boardshop and your skis are already loaded in your box atop your car – so up you jump into your ski pants and heated ski socks that you got from Basalt Bike & Ski and head into the kitchen for that pot of coffee that is already brewing because you set it on automatic grind and brew last night.

Breakfast? Drink those raw eggs and you’re good.

[su_box title=”Mardi Gras History”] The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. From here, the traditional revelry of “Boeuf Gras,” or fatted calf, followed France to her colonies. On March 2, 1699, French-Canadian explorer Jean Baptiste Le Moyne Sieur de Bienville arrived at a plot of ground 60 miles directly south of New Orleans, and named it “Pointe du Mardi Gras” when his men realized it was the eve of the festive holiday. Bienville also established “Fort Louis de la Louisiane” (which is now Mobile) in 1702. In 1703, the tiny settlement of Fort Louis de la Mobile celebrated America’s very first Mardi Gras. Treating ourselves to a seriously delicious burrito breakfast at @beardenaspen and saying our goodbyes before Dr. Nikki flys off ... again. Wish she could pack me in her suitcase but there’s only room for flip flops and bikinis in there. Save a lounge chair in the sun for me. You never know when I’ll show up on your doorstep. Follow @drnicolatalkshealth to keep track of her adventures.
