The New Limelight Hotel Snowmass Set to Open November

The New Limelight Hotel Snowmass

The New Limelight Hotel Snowmass is in Base Village, smack at the base of the ski area. The new ownership group— Aspen Skiing Co., KSL Capital Partners and East West Partners worked hard to get the hotel and two other buildings up and ready for last ski season and their diligence was visible for anyone who skis or snowboards down to the bottom of the Elk Camp Gondola or Village Express chairlift.

So far four of the 11 of the condominiums built on the top floors of the Limelight have been put under contract. Ownership at the Limelight has its privileges, including access to the Snowmass Mountain Club which is also located in the hotel. The Limelight Hotel Snowmass is proving to be an interesting and exciting mix of public and private — with the condos and the club being on the more private side, and the climbing wall, Living Room lobby and ice skating rink/events lawn just outside being more on public side.

East West Partners, who is leading development and sales for the ownership group, also reports healthy sales at the recently remodeled Viceroy Hotel — also part of Snowmass Base Village. Since re-launching the Viceroy Residences last December, there has been a surge in sales with 27 residences either sold or under contract. Part of that may be the addition of a great coffee and pastry bar in the lobby and the remaking of the restaurant into Chef Richard Sandoval’s Toro Latin Kitchen and Lounge.

Construction is also well under way for Lumin, a three-condominium building that looks straight up the mountain toward the Big Burn. These are the most exclusive properties for sale in Snowmass Base Village.

Aspen Real Life

The colors are changing early due to the drought but they sure are vibrantly popping out through the haze blowing in from the California fires. Nature keeps giving.

FROM CBS: Because the color change is driven primarily by daylight, the colors are guaranteed change regardless of other factors like drought. But according to Forest Entomologist Dr. Dan West at the Colorado State Forest Service, “the drought could cause colors to peak days earlier than usual and the intensity of the color may be diluted compared to years when precipitation is adequate”. “This is because dry conditions stress aspen stands”, says West.

As of August 27, more than 90% of Colorado is experiencing at least severe drought including the entire Denver metro area. And about 35% of the state is experiencing extreme drought including many mountain areas.
