Hillz Salon, An Aspen Hair Salon

Hillz Salon, An Aspen Hair Salon

If you are looking for a great hair salon that is a bit more affordable than the others, than you must visit Hillz Salon, an Aspen hair salon

Owned by Hilarie Watkins, Hillz Salon is located at 202 Aspen Airport Business Center Suite B, above Thurston Kitchen Designs.

I used to visit Hilarie for blow outs when she worked with Jerome at Altitude and am so proud and glad that she opened her own salon in the AABC.

Hair Salon in Aspen

Having very thick, curly hair, it’s not easy to get the perfect blow out, but Hilarie gets it right every time, without ever using a flat iron. Each time I go to her I ask for something different, sometimes I like it straightened and then curled, others I want straight with a wave. She is so talented that she is able to do whatever I request. She also does great cuts and color as you can see in the middle and last photo.

Hilarie’s space has big windows with a nice patio that soon will have lounge furniture for those who want to sit outside while waiting for their color to set, or possibly even while getting a mani/pedi. Other perks include her awesome sinks, the most comfortable sinks I have experienced as the head does not bend back but lays straight and water never drips uncomfortably into clothing.

Aspen Real Life

The colors are changing early due to the drought but they sure are vibrantly popping out through the haze blowing in from the California fires. Nature keeps giving.

FROM CBS: Because the color change is driven primarily by daylight, the colors are guaranteed change regardless of other factors like drought. But according to Forest Entomologist Dr. Dan West at the Colorado State Forest Service, “the drought could cause colors to peak days earlier than usual and the intensity of the color may be diluted compared to years when precipitation is adequate”. “This is because dry conditions stress aspen stands”, says West.

As of August 27, more than 90% of Colorado is experiencing at least severe drought including the entire Denver metro area. And about 35% of the state is experiencing extreme drought including many mountain areas.
