Aspen Real Life Goes Shopping

During Aspen Fashion Week 2012 I met up with STYLE 2020, professional and highly experienced stylists who help their clients discover their individual signature style. Meeting up in local boutique, Pitkin County Dry Goods, I experienced a taste of what STYLE 2020 offers and I was reawakened to the importance of incorporating fashion into our every day living. Goodbye frumpy, hello beauty!

Aspen Fashion Week 2012:

During Aspen Fashion Week 2012, I was inspired by a presentation put on by STYLE 2020. The model, STYLE 2020 Operations Manager Michelle Devereux, stood in the front of the room where a stylist from STYLE 2020, Zeena Abidi, spoke of the importance of simplifying by wearing something to work that can easily be transitioned into evening-wear.

Devereux wore a little black dress that had strips of lace on the sides with a nude panel backing, a beige blazer to match and black pumps. To make the transition, off came the blazer and out came a beautiful diamond pendant necklace along with dangling diamond earrings to match from Black Starr & Frost. The pumps were exchanged for a higher heel with a sheen and voila, the transformation was complete.

When the presentation was over I walked out of the room and a light bulb went off over my head. For a while now I have been experiencing fashion envy whenever I go out. My clothes, once colorful and funky, have become too basic and devoid of any flair. I needed to be stylized and I needed it on the double.

I walked back into the room about three or four times before summoning up the courage to approach Kathryn Moore, President and CEO of STYLE 2020, with my idea of going to one of my favorite local boutiques, Pitkin County Dry Goods, and getting their personalized service. Kathryn was all for it and so I met Michelle and Zeena. Could they bust me out of my cocoon and transform me into a beautiful butterfly? Watch the video below and find out.

About STYLE 2020:

“STYLE 2020 is a personal service for men and women seeking to bring out their best through refining an often overlooked quality – personal style. Professional and highly experienced stylists help our clients discover their individual signature STYLE through a detailed and informative Life+STYLE Profile, wardrobe auditing, field research, signature shopping services, our inspirational education series and much more. Whether it is upgrading your look in a social, professional or casual setting, STYLE 2020 knows how to help you uncover your personal STYLE.”

Their Philosophy

“STYLE 2020 provides women and men from all walks of life with more than a personal shopping experience, but a Total Image SolutionSM. Clients consult with fashion and lifestyle experts that founder and President Kathryn Moore has carefully hand-selected, discussing their lifestyle, comfort zones, budgets and goals. Moore, who has a degree in psychology, wants to help clients figure out not just what outfits are in this season, but what people really need to feel good and reflect their personalities. Moore believes this type of service shouldn’t be for celebrities alone and desires to bring it to real people.”

Below is the video. I know, I know, I still need help in the hair and makeup department. Anybody?
