ACES Birding by Habitat: Frying Pan Valley

This special field trip will take you through high-elevation habitats from North Star Nature Preserve to the summit of Independence Pass at 12,095′ elevation. We will begin the day with a hike to the south side of North Star where special access granted by Pitkin County Open Space allows us to bird in aspen groves, willow thickets, wetlands, dry meadows, and mixed forests that teem with breeding birds.
