History Lessons with Larry | The Apex/Sideline Debate
March 22 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm UTC-6
In this new program offered each Thursday in March, longtime Aspen Historical Society volunteer Larry Fredrick will share in-depth but timely lessons in specific areas of Aspen history. A mining expert, Larry’s breadth of knowledge and enthusiasm for stories from the past will entertain budding historians of all ages and interest!
March 22nd – The Apex/Sideline Debate
Unearth the meanings behind laying a claim, staking your claim, and “paper it.” We’ll examine historic mining litigations and many changes in claim ownership across the history of mining in the area. This “class” will include a special museum theatre-style live debate between David Hyman and Jerome B. Wheeler, with character performance by Larry Fredrick and Mitchell Osur, moderated by Aspen High School teacher Christopher Wheatley.
The public is invited to join Larry on Thursdays from 3PM – 4PM in the new Community Gallery at the Aspen Historical Society Archive Building. No reservations necessary.
Join us for the final program on March 29th – Journeys into Aspen: Then & Now
