Meet Writer in Residence Grant Faulkner
July 18, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm UTC-6
“Humans are naturally wired to tell stories because that’s how we make meaning of the world…So everyone has a story—or many stories—to tell.”
July Writer in Residence Grant Faulkner is the Executive Director of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a nonprofit that supports writers who commit to completing a 50,000-word novel in the 30 days of November. With over 400,000 annual participants online, it’s the largest writing event in the world. He is also the cofounder of 100 Word Story, an online publishing platform for short fiction. Faulkner’s work has been published in The New York Times, Poets & Writers, Writer’s Digest, and Tin House, among other publications. His book of essays on creativity, “Pep Talks for Writers: 52 Insights and Actions to Boost Your Creative Mojo,” is forthcoming from Chronicle Books in the fall of 2017.
His recent collection of essays, “Fissures,” features one hundred 100-word stories, and free copies are available at the Aspen Words’ office.
