Potbelly Perspective: Exploring the Unknown Escalante River

January 17, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm UTC-6

Exploring the Unknown Escalante River by Stand Up Paddleboard | Jordan Curet

In the town of Escalante, Utah, the aptly named Escalante River picks up just enough water during runoff to be navigable for just a few days a year. It twists and winds for over 101 miles, ending in Lake Powell. Though a handful of packrafters know this fact, it is a closely guarded secret. After asking throughout the river community, we learned that the river had never been traversed by stand-up paddleboard (SUP).

Join us for an adventure story that takes place beneath towering cliffs and around horseshoe curves to hear about Jordan’s experience traversing rapids and even surviving a terrifying flash flood on a paddleboard.

Tea, donated by Two Leaves and a Bud Tea Company, beer, donated by Aspen Brewing Company and Paradise Bakery cookies will be offered during lecture.
