Canada to Mexico: A Journey on the Pacific Crest Trail During the Year of Fire and Ice | Jerry Olp
On June 30th, 2017, Jerry Olp hopped out of a stranger’s pickup truck on the side of California State Highway 299. He walked to where a trail crossed the road, took a deep breath of the hot dusty northern California air, and began his hike along the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (PCT). Over the course of his 108 day journey on the PCT, Olp toured some of the most incredible landscapes the United States has to offer. Traversing two dozen Wilderness areas, seven national parks, tribal, and private land, Olp gained an appreciation into what it takes to make and manage a unique gem like the Pacific Crest Trail. Join us as Jerry shares the story of his experience, during a year when he faced both wildfires and early season snowfall.
Tea, donated by Two Leaves and a Bud Tea Company, beer, donated by Aspen Brewing Company, and Paradise Bakery cookies will be offered during lecture.
