Feed Zone Table Family-Style Meals

In anticipation of the Food and Wine Classic, coming to Aspen June 17 – 19th, I have been trying to up my game in the kitchen to enhance our ritual family dinners. The cookbook, Feed Zone Table: Family-Style Meals to Nourish Life and Sport, by Chef Biju Thomas and Dr. Allen Lim, has helped me in my effort to not only return to actually enjoying my time in the kitchen but to ensure that I am preparing nourishing meals for my boys, and Baddy, who come home starving and exhausted, and although I have not plowed through the entire book yet, the recipes that I have made have been devoured such as; Chicken Pad Thai prepared with Chicken thighs and tofu and low-sodium soy sauce; Chicken and Almond Dumplings made with gluten-free flour; Baked Salmon in Pastry and Baked Granola Crisp.

Dr. Allen Lim, an exercise physiologist, made a name for himself working alongside top American athletes and teams on the pro cycling tour and reengineering sports drinks and athletic meals. He is also the cofounder of Skratch Labs, a start-up with goals to help people take better care of themselves and their families.

Chef Biju Thomas, a professional chef with a passion for feeding people good food, owns Biju’s Little Curry Shop, a fast-casual restaurant with locations in and around Denver, serving made-from-scratch food inspired by his family.

FAMILY DINNERS

[su_quote cite=”Feed Zone Table”]My mom’s kitchen was always nice and hot on cold, snowy Colorado days as we crowded around her in anticipation of a steaming hot bowl of rice and spicy beef straight off the stove. To my mother’s annoyance, all six of us kids would critique the dish and talk about how it was different from the lat time, or how it would be so much better if we only toasted the onions a little longer, or charred the coconut, or added just a bit more broth. My mother would agree, and next time we would make it differently and the conversation would start all over again.[/su_quote]

Similar to Chef Biju Thomas, my boys are always critiquing me on how to improve upon the tastes and textures of the food I serve. My intention with this cookbook is for them to get up off their cute little bottoms and dive into the 100 recipes of Feed Zone Table and cook for their mama who is getting insanely busy as AspenRealLife rockets into the next dimension. With easy techniques for making flavorful food that’s fun to prepare, this should not be a problem!

Sports are often an escape from life, but Feed Zone Table is a warm invitation back to the table. We perform best when we nourish our bodies and feed our souls. Bring great food and people together with Feed Zone Table and you’ll feel the difference.

How Nature Heals, A Story From aspenreallife.com: #l....As the story from the forest unraveled while we were skinning through it, other stories were revealed and I began to collect the information for a possible future children’s book; the snow crystals sparkling like diamonds in the sun, the white ice crystals of hoarfrost layered upon the snow, and as I absorbed the textures with my eyes, I realized that I also felt the textures from within and it was inexplicably soothing. We have been forced to slow down during this Pandemic, allowing us the opportunity to reflect deeply about our place in the world. For many of us revelations are happening daily, but if we are filled with anxiety, or can’t move beyond our depression, we will not allow the revelations to seep in and we will miss the magic. Meditation helps immensely to create mindfulness about the chatter that leads to the anxiety, as does listening to the journeys of others as they get raw in their pain while enduring heart break and loss. As we repeatedly witness, the world can be a scary place where humanity can be careless, selfish and hateful, but humanity and compassion can also heal us to a place where we are able to see the world as healing rather than a place we want to escape from, but you need to get raw with it. Face it head on, so that you can create space and breathe, which will allow you to slowly shed the anxiety and the depression so that you can strengthen from within and persevere, no matter what is going on around you. Get outside in nature, and nurture it as it nurtures you.Read More at aspenreallife.com#hownatureheals#intotheforest#hoarfrost#textures#natureheals#aspenreallife ...
