Green is the New Black Fashion Show

Fashion is in the air this week but it is not just in Aspen. Green is the new Black Fashion Show just took place in Carbondale and what a magnificent show it was!

Carbondale’s favorite fashion show, “Green is the New Black” is coming back this March. Amy Kimberly, Fashion Show Director and CCAH Executive Director, created this event to help fund art programs in schools, “The importance of the arts in learning has been proven over and over, and CCAH is committed to ensuring our students receive this education,” states Kimberly. “Study after study shows that children who are involved in the arts stay in school, graduate, are more involved in the school itself. It boosts brain function, abstract thinking, math and science skills. It’s nuts that this is the first thing that’s cut,” says Ro Mead, former executive director of CCAH.

Carbondale is a town that is fast and furiously becoming a hotbed for entrepreneurs supporting  environmental sustainability and this is reflected in the production of the show as Carbondale’s creative artists and tightly knit community gathered together with over forty designers, including Jenna Bradford of the Carbondale Sew-Op, to create a wardrobe of predominantly sustainable, recycled and/or hand-made designs.

Watch in awe as talented artists and locals, buff from climbing, skiing and mountain biking, appear larger than life on stage dressed in remarkable costumes made out of organic and reclaimed materials. They crawl, strut and shimmy their way down the runway, and sometimes off the stage and into the audience, in an energetic, well choreographed and often eclectic skit marking the concept of “fashion forward using materials from the past”.

Green is the New Black Fashion ShowIt will be a night to remember for an extremely important cause putting a gigantic stamp on the significance of arts, fashion and self expression in our lives and in our schools and I thank Amy Kimberly, CCAH, The Carbondale Recreation and Community Center, our local Merchants and the locals of Carbondale for sending the message home to SAVE OUR ARTS!

How Nature Heals, A Story From aspenreallife.com: #l....As the story from the forest unraveled while we were skinning through it, other stories were revealed and I began to collect the information for a possible future children’s book; the snow crystals sparkling like diamonds in the sun, the white ice crystals of hoarfrost layered upon the snow, and as I absorbed the textures with my eyes, I realized that I also felt the textures from within and it was inexplicably soothing. We have been forced to slow down during this Pandemic, allowing us the opportunity to reflect deeply about our place in the world. For many of us revelations are happening daily, but if we are filled with anxiety, or can’t move beyond our depression, we will not allow the revelations to seep in and we will miss the magic. Meditation helps immensely to create mindfulness about the chatter that leads to the anxiety, as does listening to the journeys of others as they get raw in their pain while enduring heart break and loss. As we repeatedly witness, the world can be a scary place where humanity can be careless, selfish and hateful, but humanity and compassion can also heal us to a place where we are able to see the world as healing rather than a place we want to escape from, but you need to get raw with it. Face it head on, so that you can create space and breathe, which will allow you to slowly shed the anxiety and the depression so that you can strengthen from within and persevere, no matter what is going on around you. Get outside in nature, and nurture it as it nurtures you.Read More at aspenreallife.com#hownatureheals#intotheforest#hoarfrost#textures#natureheals#aspenreallife ...
