Lilybart Cards Benefitting Cystic Fibrosis

Lily Royer is the creator of AspenRealLife’s whimsical local bear logo. Lily is 17 and has Cystic Fibrosis and started  Lilybart, a foundation raising awareness and funds for the research of Cystic Fibrosis.

We first met Lily and her family when our boys were attending the Aspen Community School, a school that breeds independence, free-thinking and confidence in it’s students, and from the moment we met Lily we were attracted to her shining personality and taken in by the way she took care of her two younger brothers (she also has an older sister).

But it was when we saw her beautifully designed collage greeting cards that we moved in for a closer look. We had been in the process of speaking with many logo designers about our desire to have a logo that represented our connection with our community, and the designs we were seeing just were not fitting the bill. Choosing Lily’s bear came after a local ruffian bear broke into our house and plopped itself down in front of our fridge to eat our 5lb bag of sugar. Lily’s AspenRealLife bear fit the bill.

Living with Cystic Fibrosis

Lily was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis just before her first birthday. Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disease which affects every organ in the body. Lungs and digestion are the hardest hit. Each day is a fight for breath and life for Lily as she battles the effects of this insidious disease, but one would never know this by watching Lily who has a beautiful shining smile as she charges through life with a directness and confidence as she nurtures those around her.

Lillian Bartholomew Royer is fondly referred to as ‘Lilybart’ by her great-grandmother and is the name of Lily’s endeavor to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and to provide access to integrative medicine.

Proceeds from the sale of Lilybart cards buys time for Lily. With access to integrative medical support, we can help Lily beat the odds of this life-shortening disease. Cystic Fibrosis may dictate the outcome of health but Lily’s potential lies with her ability to hope, to create and to find purpose with each day.

The Lilybart initiative has grown to become a thriving company. Lily’s cards are available in stores from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. She has worked with artists in Colorado and Pennsylvania.

How Nature Heals, A Story From #l....As the story from the forest unraveled while we were skinning through it, other stories were revealed and I began to collect the information for a possible future children’s book; the snow crystals sparkling like diamonds in the sun, the white ice crystals of hoarfrost layered upon the snow, and as I absorbed the textures with my eyes, I realized that I also felt the textures from within and it was inexplicably soothing. We have been forced to slow down during this Pandemic, allowing us the opportunity to reflect deeply about our place in the world. For many of us revelations are happening daily, but if we are filled with anxiety, or can’t move beyond our depression, we will not allow the revelations to seep in and we will miss the magic. Meditation helps immensely to create mindfulness about the chatter that leads to the anxiety, as does listening to the journeys of others as they get raw in their pain while enduring heart break and loss. As we repeatedly witness, the world can be a scary place where humanity can be careless, selfish and hateful, but humanity and compassion can also heal us to a place where we are able to see the world as healing rather than a place we want to escape from, but you need to get raw with it. Face it head on, so that you can create space and breathe, which will allow you to slowly shed the anxiety and the depression so that you can strengthen from within and persevere, no matter what is going on around you. Get outside in nature, and nurture it as it nurtures you.Read More at ...
