Shining Stars Foundation: Wine, Women & Shoes

Written by Megan Bryant, Shining Stars Foundation Director of Outreach & Development

Whenever I mention the name of Aspen’s newest and most exciting event ‘Wine Women & Shoes’ to someone who hasn’t heard of it, their immediate reaction is, “when is it and where do I sign up!?” After all – it focuses on the most fabulous things in a woman’s life: fine wine and stylish footwear. The things we just can’t live without, and wouldn’t dare try to.

Elaine Honig, of Honig Winery, first created the event in 2004 in California. It was so successful, that it soon spread to other cities across the country, from San Antonio to New York, to right here in Aspen, CO. “We wanted to get away from producing a typical Gala style fundraiser, and provide something exciting in our community, while raising funds for an important cause”, shares Shining Stars CEO Kathy Gingery. The Shining Stars Foundation is hosting this event in partnership with Wine Women & Shoes, and 100% of proceeds benefit the Shining Stars Foundation, bringing hope to children with cancer through over 60 outdoor, recreational, and social programs and events.Shining Stars Foundation: Wine, Women & Shoes

The event will be held July 6 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola, an iconic location in the heart of downtown Aspen through a partnership with The Little Nell. Last year, the event raised enough to help provide services to 80 new pediatric cancer patients and their families, in addition to the over 700 families already served. Now, that is fashion with compassion!

The day will feature fine wine tastings, delectable bites served up by the best local restaurants, shopping with unique boutiques from around the country, and incredible live and silent auctions. The best parts of the day are the Best in Shoe contests or the handsome Shoe Guys serving up stilettos on silver platters. You won’t find an event like this anywhere else. So, pick out your most outrageous pair of shoes and join us for the third annual Wine Women and Shoes. See you July 6!
