Trash Crush

The 2nd annual Trash Crush community clean-up and environmental stewardship event is being held on Friday, June 2nd from 11:00-1:00, meeting at the Northstar Preserve south gate parking lot.  Hosted by Erik Skarvan of Sun Dog Athletics and Todd Shaver of the Bull Market Report, Trash Crush is a volunteer effort to clean up litter along the Northstar Nature Preserve and nearby roadways and raise awareness about caring for our public lands. The event partners with CDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program and is sponsored by The Aspen Times and Pitkin County Landfill, who is supplying all volunteers with state of the art re-usable beverage containers. The first 24 volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch afterwards courtesy of partner Meat & Cheese Restaurant & Farm Shop. Everyone in the community is welcome to take part and is asked to bring work gloves & extra clothing, in case of inclement weather. AVSC Community Pedaleando

AVSC’s “Community Pedaleando” is a FREE, fun, and educational youth and family cycling ride (not race!). Riders will start from Triangle Park in Willits Town Center and complete a six-mile out-and-back route on the Rio Grande Trail to Hooks Spur Road and Rock Bottom Ranch.

There will be plenty of snacks along the route, and all participants will be entered for the chance to win some great prizes!

Registration, bike decoration, and breakfast for the community ride begins at 8 am. at Triangle Park at Willits Town Center. The ride itself will start at 9 am. ALL children and families are welcome to come and bike with us on June 3 – you do not have to be previously enrolled in one of our programs! Bring a bike, a helmet, and some friends and come kick off summer – and bike season – with AVSC!
